NFL Draft: Winners and Losers

The 2018 NFL Draft occurred April 26th and had many unique and freak of nature prospects. Many teams got their franchise quarterbacks, while some went completely off script.

The winner of the draft was 100% the Baltimore Ravens. They acquired Lamar Jackson at 32nd, which is a complete steal, OT Orlando Brown (the tackle of Heisman winner Baker Mayfield), TE Mark Andrews who is a matchup nightmare, WR Jaleel Scott the WR who made the best catch of 2017, and safety DeShon Elliott a player who ballhawks more efficiently than any other player in the draft and more.

The Cleveland Browns got a franchise QB in Baker Mayfield, the winner of the Heisman trophy, but at the cost of the number 1 overall selection when they had he 4th overall selection as well. They could have taken Mayfield (a solid QB) at 4th and gotten Saquan Barkley (the best player in the draft) at 1 and really won the draft, but instead choose Denzel Ward (an undersized cornerback) at 4 and Mayfield at 1. Both of these players are good additions to the team but the team did have other needs and the players were drafted a bit high for their talent.

The Buffalo Bills chose Josh Allen, the QB who needs the most work with a defensive minded head coach which could not only hurt his development as a football player but also turn this pick into a bust.

The loser of the draft is the New Orleans Saints they traded up for Marcus Davenport who is a good player but isn't worth the future first round pick and would probably have still been there later in the draft, this was a major let down considering their phenomenal draft last year
