Gooding Rocks Out At Green Run
On May 25th, Nashville based band Gooding appeared at Green Run High School to perform for financial education students.
Students who passed the Financial Literacy test, otherwise known as the W!se exam, were treated to a music performance by Gooding.
Thankfully, they didn't sing about financial literacy, but instead rocked the house with some rock and roll. Now, that's not to say they didn't do this for financial literacy, in fact, it's quite the opposite. An excerpt from their website reads, "Our Financial Literacy Tour uses the power of a live rock performance and our own personal story to inspire young people with lessons of finance and discipline to help them see their own dreams as possibilities."
After their headbanging performance, Gooding had a short presentation involving basic financial concepts such as saving money and compound interest. Cards were passed out showing "3 Easy Steps to Big Money", showing a S.M.A.R.T. Chart, a budgeting plan, and an investing plan.
After the presentation, I interviewed John Roe, a student, who had this to say.
"I thought the performance was really good and well done. Which they used to hype up the financial literacy really well giving them more of everyone's attention. Also, their presentation made sense so it was easy to follow with a lot of good reasons to be more financial literate that i know I'm going to at least attempt to perform where as before I wouldn't have."
In all, Gooding's music performance proved an invaluable lesson to Green Run students, teaching them the key to funding the future.
